The Department of Nutrition and Food Safety at the World Health Organization launched its new guideline on Policies to protect children from the harmful impact of food marketing. The guideline provides countries with recommendations on measures to restrict food marketing to which children are exposed, including policy design elements to improve the measures’ effectiveness. Juliette joined other colleagues and experts to provide remarks during the launch of the guideline. She presented on the commercial determinants of health, the basic incentives that underpin harmful practices, and the importance of a focus on industry interference with the development and implementation of law and policies for protecting and promoting health — including food industry interference with marketing regulation.
